Teresa "Wacky T." Waclawik has done murals all around Vancouver, so, you most likely have seen her art but didn't know it. Here is what her web site says about her:
Teresa "Wacky T." Waclawik lives in her own "wacky and wonderful world" of art. From her black and white book illustrations to colorful paintings to large murals, she is unique in her approach.
She is most famous for her Movie Mural at the Starlight Theatre in Vancouver, Canada, painted in 1990. An important landmark and popular tourist attraction in Vancouver's West End, the mural met an early and untimely demise in 1998, much to the dismay of the community, but you can read about it at See The West End.
Waclawik's whimsical and often thought-provoking paintings can be found in a variety of collections across Canada and the United States. An accomplished caricaturist, she has been widely sought for promotional events, parties and conventions—making people smile from one end of the country to the other.
A local newspaper once called her "a one woman cultural event" because of her enthusiasm and immeasurable generosity in offering her artwork to support such worthy causes as food banks, charities and arts organizations.

I ran across West Coast Air at the SOHO conference this year. I thought they were very friendly and deserved a little support in light of all the complaints from residents. Float planes provide a great service which has been around years and years longer than any residents living near the water close to the areas where planes take off and land.

Here is a short snip from his website:
Whenever you "Discover Fun," you add something positive to your life...and to the world. It might be a smile, it might be a "laugh on the inside," or it might be an all-out, shake-the-windows cheek-stretching chortle that has everyone around you laughing out loud, too.

Nerds On Site are a great bunch of people. I met them at SOHO this year (again) and they are incredibly helpful. Check them out some time since they are a great addition to the local Vancouver technology landscape.

I met Robert Lewis, a representative of e-BC, at the SOHO conference and he was a wealth of information - and nice! e-BC is a place where businesses may connect and learn. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Here is a snippet from their web site:
To help BC businesses remain competitive in our rapidly changing information economy, Western Economic Diversification, Small Business BC and the Leadership and Management Development Council of BC have created eBusiness Connection. A BC-based not-for-profit e-business resource centre, eBC was created in response to the entrepreneurial community’s demand for more and better e-business and e-commerce resources. We offer a unique and comprehensive collection of e-business information services to help BC’s small businesses adapt to technological change, and maintain and grow their businesses.
