The Pendulum Art Gallery in Vancouver is currently showing a large exhibit of Origami art, in conjunction with the Pacific Coast Origami Conference, being hosted at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Vancouver artist Joseph Wu, who organized the exhibition, has been considering the possibility of such a show for a number of years, but has only recently come to believe that origami is ready to be accepted as fine art in Vancouver. Undaunted by a chilly reception from Vancouver art galleries, Wu says that over the past 10 years origami has been coming into its own as a fine art form around the world.
The current exhibition consists of 150 pieces from local and international artists, and is well worth seeing. It will continue until November 17 at the Pendulum Gallery, on the main floor atrium of the HSBC Building, at Hornby and West Georgia, in downtown Vancouver.
