Today's letter to Dear Editor

Today's letter to Dear Editor

By Ray on May 27, 2008 - 9:49am

Dear Editor:

Maybe old age is getting to me, but I don't understand U. S. politics.

The two most logical candidates for president are both in the same
party, yet are fighting to the death and spending millions to see which
one gets their party's approval.

Meanwhile, the other party's candidate is past retirement age, and is
the subject of jokes and ridicule for late night comics and others.
So we have a token woman, a token black, and a token senior
running for the highest office in the country. There's something wrong
with that picture.

George Bernard Shaw said: "Democracy substitutes election by the
incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few."

The Americans seem to be trying to combine those two ideas.

Enjoy your day,

Note: the above was sent in response to an editorial in today's Vancouver Sun
titled 'Clinton and Obama break the mould in U.S. presidential races'.
