About Cook the Hood:
This holiday season, West End foodies will give family and friends a taste of their neighbourhood with Cook the Hood: West End 2010. Featuring recipes from 25 West End eateries and culinary hotspots, the book champions local businesses and community spirit while drawing attention to food security issues. Author Wendy Walsh, who began the project with Cook the Hood: Commercial Drive in 2008, explains: "These books celebrate the people and the flavours that set a neighbourhood apart, while helping those without access to nutritious food."
The brainchild of Vancouver entrepreneur Wendy Walsh, Cook the Hood Publishing produces cookbooks with a difference. Each edition features culinary secrets from neighbourhood restaurants and other gustatory hotspots. Proceeds benefit Quest Outreach Society and local food security organizations. The series includes Cook the Hood books for Commercial Drive, the West End, and Kitsilano. Future editions will feature Gastown and Whistler Village.

For one of my day-job projects, I am rallying together a rag-tag team of social media makers to create a tasty batch of social media at the EPIC Sustainabile Living Expo next weekend. Bloggers, podcasters, photographers, and vid-makers are all invited to participate in making compelling content while hanging out with an eclectic variety of citizen journalists at a really entertaining event at Canada Place.
