U.S. MUSIC ICON COMES TO FRASER VALLEY
Aug 5, 2009 – Abbotsford
One of America’s pre-eminent singing coaches is coming to Abbotsford, on his first ever tour stop in Canada, to share his knowledge and judge some of our upcoming talents.
Darcy D Vocal Studio is pleased to present singer, songwriter, arranger, producer, vocal coach, style coach and artist developer RAab (Rob) Stevenson on his first ever visit to Canada Aug. 3-7 as part of Stevenson’s Platinum Vocal Workshop Tour 2009.
Stevenson is an acclaimed vocal sensation and Speech Level Singing (SLS) certified voice coach, whose clients include Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Hudson, Boyz II Men, and Adam Levine of Maroon 5, to name a few.
Stevenson was lead vocalist and tour vocal coach on Justin Timberlake’s international FutureSexLoveSounds Tour.
“I’m looking forward to visiting Abbotsford for the Platinum Vocal Workshop Tour’s first ever stop in Canada,” Stevenson says.
“I’ve heard there’s a lot of talented young people in Abbotsford,” he added.
Stevenson will be a guest judge for the “Valley Voices” vocal competition final at Abbotsford’s Agrifair, Aug. 3.
While in Abbotsford Stevenson will teach privately and conduct a series of creative workshops on vocal performance, vocal style, vocal delivery for stage and studio, how to arrange backing vocals and more.
Singer/songwriter Scott Jackson is taking part in a songwriter’s circle at The Wired Monk at 2610 West Fourth Ave., on Saturday June 21st at 8:00 p.m, along with musicians Monica Lee and Lindsay May.
Jackson is truly one of Canada’s national treasures. “If you put Tom petty and U2 in a studio together,” Jackson explains, “the Scott Jackson sound is what you might end up with!” At the age of 21, Jackson picked up an acoustic guitar and began writing songs. Shortly thereafter, he launched himself onto the Vancouver music scene with the release of his first solo CD, “Via Satellite.” Producer Jerry Wong (Damn The Diva, Bif Naked, Loverboy) was so impressed with Jackson’s song “What Are We Waiting For,” that he became Jackson’s musical collaborator and urged him to record a 6-track EP, which was released as ‘My World.’
